Introduction
Mosaic is an old art and dates back to before 3000 BC. In this long period of time several materials have been used such as clay, stone, marble, ceramics and glass.

One type of mosaic art uses smalti, wonderfully coloured glass cut in small pieces by greatly skilled artisans. This art of mosaic stems from ancient civilizations and was revived during the Middle Ages, peaking in Ravenna, Constantinople, on Sicily and Venice.
After the Renaissance period mosaic became less popular, but it has started a comeback during the last century.
Natasja Mulder creates her uniquely designed smalti mosaics in her Studio Colorito. She also uses other wonderful types of glass such as millefiori, stained glass and glass nuggets. The combination of these materials makes beautiful pieces of art, which are refreshingly colourful.
Natasja attended several mosaic–masterclasses in Italy. At this moment she studies mosaics at the Art Academy of Wilrijk , Belgium.

“In June 2008 Natasja attended a masterclass at Orsoni in Venice. She creqted a mosaic of the Delphic Sibylle, after a fresco of Michelangelo from the Sistine Chapel in Rome. For this she received the certificate “ Master in Mosaico”.
Natasja is a professional member of three international mosaic-organisations : SAMA ( United States ) , BAMM ( United Kingdom ) and AIMC ( Italy ). In The Netherlands Natasja is member of BBK, NABK and artring.
